Oakland, CA May 14, 2004 -- Epiphone announced a strange new twist to guitars with the new Emily the Strange Epiphone Gibson G-310 guitar. Emily the Strange approached Epiphone with the idea to do a full guitar graphic on its unique Bat Winged SG guitar body. Since Rock n Roll has always had a great influence on Emily, the character, getting the Epiphone guitar customized to her liking was the purr-fect thing to do. Emily is known for her affection to cats.
“Emily the Strange’s guitar is one of the most complex guitars we have ever made,” said Jim Rosenberg, President of Epiphone. “ We are glad to have her in the Epiphone family.”
The graphics on the guitar feature Emily as she gazes intently out from a sea of swirling crimson, white and black as she proclaims People are Strange. Sabbath, a member of the Emily Strange Posse, accompanies Emily (of course) on the guitar, with his eyes inlaid at the 12th fret. The swirling graphics continue on the headstock, which proudly sports the “Emily the Strange” logo. The guitar is also equipped with a pair of powerful open-coil humbucking pickups (with black coils) and a black pickguard.
Throughout the coming months Emily will be sponsoring a number of her favorite artists with this strangely unique guitar. Promotions giving consumers a chance to win the Emily the Strange Epiphone guitar are now online at http://www.emilystrange.com/beware/contests/16EmilyGuitar.cfm. To win consumers are asked to submit an original recorded song about Emily! Retailer Hot Topic will also be hosting an additional sweepstakes online at www.hottopic.com. Rules and regulations for both contests appear on line.
The Epiphone Limited Edition Emily the Strange G-310 will be available through Epiphone's dealer network (musical instrument stores everywhere) and in specialty retail stores that carry Emily the Strange merchandise. The MSRP: $499.
